Hey guys, I just wanted to know what kind of overclocks other people got with their G3258. I bought mine a coupe of days ago and started to overclock yesterday.

Unfortunately, I was only able to get it to 4.2 ghz at 1.375v with 81°C hottest core at full load(which I'm really not comfortable with) so I just dumb it down for now or at least

only ramp it up when Im gaming. I'm not totally disappointed with mine, It does everything I wanted it to so I still consider it a good buy. so what do you guys think? let me know :)

no, higher end chips are better binned( i7 4790k)

for overclocking, you have pure lottery

with like a athlon 760k you have higher chances going past 4.5 so i guess its a better buy and mobos are cheaper

Anniversary hype :P i will start recommending athlon x4 to people instead of pentium, its same budget anyway but better at multithread

and WUT 100$ on cooler, wow and 70$ cpu :P such balance, much performance

My G3258 does just fine with a Hyper 212 Evo inside of a N200 chassis. I could go higher on it easily, but I like the balance of performance / power consumption / temperature right now. X)

I'm in Alaska so electricity is expensive, therefore I went with a PNY GTX 750 Ti OC edition. X)

why not heat up igloo with a pc? nah joke :P good choice love maxwell.

soon we get APUs that are similar to HD7870 ( r9 270 ) performance, if they can make same APU as it is in consoles but smaller die.

then, wattage pulled from wall is cut in half :)

also i belive pny has quietest and coolest heatsink ye? i think so. :) seen benches on web

Yeah, it's also the highest factory overclock too! Seems like a good deal to use 'til Broadwell. My build is here:

hey woah, only canadians have igloo's. Infact we love having lan parties in our community igloos (sorta like community centres in america)

OT: 4.2 at 1.375v is really high; most people get that around 4.6ghz :/

Bought it on Newegg. I might consider it, but since I've been pretty busy lately I could barely find time to game let alone play around with my pc. but you never know man, thanks for the input shrake907.

G3258s are pretty inexpensive @ 70 bucks, right? You could perhaps sell the G3258 locally to someone who isn't a heavy overclocker and just purchase a new chip, if the cost of shipping it back to newegg is excessive.

Sure, no problem.
