You already can't tell the difference past like 300 ppi on a mobile device... what's the point of this?  I wish they'd stop the pixel race for phones (we're already there guys, hello) and start on desktop monitors lol... maybe Apple will come out with a retina iMac this year to kick everyone else into gear.

thats true they shud improve the monitor pixels, but apple coming first that tech will be expensive lets hope LG or Dell does that then even us the pc users will benefit

Apple coming first will only be expensive if you buy the apple product. But things that apple put out also seems to become popular faster then it would otherwise (note: I didn't say invent). Things that are popular will faster get a better offering than other things.

Edit: I'm most interested in the MiraSol concept. That's something I would like to see more of. That on a work monitor would be nice!

I've refrained from saying this many times, but that's just pointless. I've seen many people say anything above 250 ppi and later on 300 ppi and 330 ppi doesn't matter, but they're repeatedly proven wrong. That said I doubt fitting any more pixels inside a 5 inch phone can make much difference. I'd rather they focus on more important things (especially battery life).

TVs and monitors is where we need the higher pixel density. I have a 22" 1080p monitor and I can definitely see pixels at a normal distance, it's probably worse on the average 24" display and I probably wouldn't bear using a 27" 1080p display.

This screen will probably benefit battery life a lot ;)
