I was attempting to overclock my GPU a bit and i got 15% performance increase from it in the past but my PSU can't handle it at all. Even without a overclock on anything in the system my PSU gets so hot i can't touch the casing of it for too long because it hurts and it gets smelly like its burning plastic. I seriously need a new PSu but I'm broke and wont have money for a good powerful enough power supply but I really need to keep this PSU cool its shutting down my system. What can I do maybe a fan mod or something?

PS: I really think someone should make a water cooled PSU that would be neat but pointless. Also my +12v rail to to weak my GPU requires minimum 24 amps plus i got every connector hooked up but one.

In my opinion, you shouldn't be using it at all. You've got quite a nice system apart from that awful power supply, as someone who has seen whole systems killed by dodgy PSUs I would just throw it in the bin and save hard for something decent.

Desktop - Custom watercooled R4E/i7 3930k/GTX 780 SLI/32gb 2400mhz DDR3/Xonar STX/OCZ V4 256gb RAID 0/24tb RAID 5

I have no idea if this works what I'm thinking about, but if I was you I'd probably take the 4,2GHz overclock from your cpu down, since your signature says that it is at 4,2.

Current Rig:    AMD FX 8350 @ 4.3GHz | Xigmatek Dark Knight Night Hawk Edition | ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z | ASUS AMD Radeon HD7950 | 16GB Corsair Vengeance Red 1866MHz RAM

EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 Watt PSU | 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM | 128GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD | ASUS DVD Writer | CM Storm Trooper Windowed Edition

Peripherals:    BeyerDynamic Custom One Pro | Func MS3 | Steelseries QcK | Corsair Vengeance K70 Cherry MX Brown (on release)

I see your point but I need this system because i use it everyday and i'm looking for a new PSU but I want a good corsair but they are $ plus this PSU is actually quite strong yes it has a heat problem form being overused but it hasn't died yet and i've been using it for years. I first used this PSu with my 8600GTS and my AMD athlon 3200+ =D.

you only have 22A on one 12V raid? wtf.

That means GPU and CPU can only use 260w if you undervolt/clock your gpu and cpu it may be more stable.

But i would buy a new PSU, that thing could kill your pc :D

Yea im pushing past 260 watts big time the GPU alone could use 150 or so.

Don't use no name power supplies! I know when you're buying parts you spend all your dough on a sweet cpu, powerful video card and whatever - but this is what can happen if you buy a cheapo psu! :P Anyway, enough nagging. Buy a quality psu (corsair, seasonic, possibly ocz)  and make sure it has enough wattage

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

I would definitely go and save up for a new PSU. A good quality, branded PSU isn't that expensive. For example the Corsair CX series, or a Seasonic. The low wattages are not expensive (at least, here they aren't :))

New to Star Citizen? Look no further!

I think you need to prioritise the PSU more, it can literally catch fire and burn your whole house down. I had to rebuild a rig that had caught fire and been put out almost instantly (through nothing more than good luck and having an extinguisher close by), literally every significant part of the build was trashed. If you think $75 is bad, try being without your system while you save up $800 to build a replacement.

You may think this is alarmist but, to quote you....

This is NOT ok!

I once had a PSu blowup on my when i had my old pentium 3 but the system survived but im not going to risk it with this system new psu coming soon.
