I recently put some new fans inside my server (Core 2 Quad, 4gb RAM, 3 HDDs, Bit Fenix Merc Beta case, no graphics) but the PWM fan support isn't very good, so the fans run on full blast all the time so I need to quiet them down. I was looking at my options and i came across these two controllers on Newegg:

My other option was to make one with an Arduino I have laying around. With this option I can put the fans on the network and change the speed of them that way, no real benefit, but a "just because I can" add on.

I was just wondering if anyone here had experience with either of these two controllers or using an Arduino as a PWM fan controller. I wasn't looking to spend too much money on this (~$30 max with shipping in Canada) simply because its just a file share server that is thrown together with old parts.

i dont like taking things for granted so i will ask this, you did set up your fans in bios right? because otherwise the PWM controller on the mobo tells your fans to run at 100%, and you are using 4 pin fans?

They are 4-pin PWM BitFenix 120mm white fans, and I have 3 of them. The motherboard is a Gigabyte EP-43-UD3L (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3499#ov) there are some fan options but they don't seem to be working and SpeedFan doesn't work either.
