Hey, I'm doing a build in a 750D and I will be covering up the brushed aluminium front panel with a piece of stained and flamed maple. I thought it would be a classy accent to the build. I'm now considering different options for how to adhere the wood to the aluminium. I wanted it to be semi removable so I thought of using double sided 3m tape. I didn't want to get into gluing or epoxies, that seems too permanent. What are your thoughts?

How thick of a piece of veneer panel are you planning to put on the aluminium panel?

If you want a removable panel best solution is always using corresponding neodymium magnets, one embedded into the back of the wood panel and the other stuck onto the back side of the 750D aluminium panel so it's as easy as just pulling the wood veneer panel off to get the old 750D look.

The panel will be at most ~ 3mm thick. I have a thickenss planer in my shop so that will be doable. I like the idea of magnets, that might work.

Velcro

The problem I have with velcro is it adds a fair bit of thickness to the join between the aluminium and the wood. The gap has to be as small as possible.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

If your able to get some thin 1.5mm or 1mm neodymium magnets as long as the material is thick enough you could mill out a pocket for it and embed them into the wood flush, it'll eliminate any thickness caused by velcro or even glue since they'll naturally want to attract.

Something like this:
