Graphics Card Advice

Go to solution Solved by GloriousPain,

Hey, wondering if anyone out there can give me some advice about what graphics card to get. I currently have an EVGA gtx 670 FTW 2gb and I'm looking to upgrade. I've got an FX6300 oc'd to 4ghz, can push it to 4.5ghz. I'm leaning towards an r9 290, but I'm not sure if my cpu could keep up with that card.

I'd Suggest just a R9 280(Non X to save money) and OC the card up to X standards maybe WC it, or CPU upgrade to 8320, or pocket the money you save... unless your playing at 1440 1600 or 2160p then get the 290...

Lol nope

...yes he definitely would. Although I can see why he would want the new graphics card as it would give him more frames now, but a better cpu would balance out his build more, preparing him for the future. The 6300 is nothing special. An i3 will beat it in most games. There are some exceptions however.

I should be studying.

Yep, that depends if there is some special game out there that would happily support 6 "cores"
