the USB port is disabled on the SH2. it was tested in beta but they decided to shelf the idea for now as it was unstable during testing.聽 :(

what are your requirements for a new router/ how far away is it to your PC.

There are plenty of cost effective routers out there, but it all depends on your price range.

I'm not sure how you expect a 5GHz band to lower your ping... but that said, over Wi-Fi, capping at 250ms is actually fairly decent.

Hardwiring will improve latency, but you will still be bound to the mercy... erm, the quality... of your ISP's infrastructure.

In my experience, for residential use DSL has the best ping in my area, but the lowest bandwidth, and the worst support (GO AT&T! </sarcasm>)

Cable has an average, if unexceptional ping, the highest bandwidth, and infinitely better support than AT&T (And honestly, to hear that from Time Warner, a company know for shitty support is, to say the least, shocking)

with AT&T, I was able to regularly ping across the country with low jitter, extremely low packet loss, and really good response times (often being less than 100ms)

with TWC, my ping hovers constant around ~50ms to servers nearby, while to ping across the country is usually in excess of 500. I've had my ping spike as high as 18k across the country.

TL;DR, switch ISP's... however, as I said above, a 250ms cap is honestly not bad at all.
