Im asking if I should go for a Single 8 GB, or duel 4 GB...

I plan on doing Video editing/ Animations. I want the upgradeabilities without throwing away the rest if I ever need to upgrade past 16 GB...

and I'm already at my budget for my PC. I don't want to throw in another 80 Dollars right now.

Ok then if you aren't going to just game and plan on doing creative stuff then 32 Gb would be better.

How ever for the time being one stick of 8 Gb will be slower than two of 4 Gb because the single stick will be in single channel mode vs the dual channel mode of two 4 Gb sticks.

So get one 8 Gb stick now and maybe another 8 Gb later and if you need more you can get more.

Hi, I am going to be building a PC soon, and I was wondering if I should get 2 x 4 Gigs, or 1 x 8 Gigs. The only reason I wouldn't want the 2x4 is because it leaves me with 16 Gigs max. Are there any reasons not to go for the 1x8?

16 Gb for gaming is more than enough. If you plan on doing video editing with Adobe Premiere etc you'll want 32 Gb.

Dual 4GB, so it runs in Dual Channel. If you upgrade your memory to 16 GB, then just purchase a kit of that time that is 2x8GB (and sell off your old kit). Memory is cheap right now and by the time you upgrade it will be even cheaper. I wouldn't worry about it.
