First build attempt.. (Planning stages)

st7rm

I posted a new build thread about 6 months ago planning to get a new pc but things came up and now I'm ready to hopefully pull the trigger and build a pc for the first time very soon. Since then I have revised it, so here is what I got!

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($210.00 @ NCIX US)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($92.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($174.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  ($175.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($79.00 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($69.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Superclocked Video Card  ($489.99 @ Newegg)
Case: NZXT H440 (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($71.00 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $1553.91

As for a monitor, mouse, and keyboard: I already have a mouse and  plan on purchasing a razer keyboard after the build is complete. As for a monitor, I need some suggestions. I will be using this pc for mainly FPS games such as BF4, Call of Duty. On my old thread someone recommended the Acer H236HLbid, is that still a good monitor for my needs?

Thanks!

Why a 4670k and not a 4690k?

Also, you can get Win 8.1 cheaper on g2a.com for example.

You don't really need 16gb of ram unless you plan to do editing and stuff

Get a 4690k instead and a z97 motherboard should cost much more at all, other than that its all good.

I changed the CPU to the 4690k and had to change the motherboard to because of that. I changed it with a MSI z97-GAMING 5 but if you want a smaller budget go with a MSI z97-g45 GAMING instead because there is almost no difference. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WkzWzy

you can change it to any z97 chipset motherboard you like tho

CPU: Intel Xeon E5320 @1,86GHz | MOBO: A random HP MOBO… | RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR2 | GPU: NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800 | CASE: HP xw6400 workstation case | PSU: Random HP PSU| [spoiler=

HellFire (1st build)] CPU: Intel i5 4690k | MOBO: MSI Z97-G45 GAMING | RAM: GSkill Ripjaws X 2X4GB | GPU: MSI GeForce GTX770 GAMING (2GB) | CASE: Zalman Z11 PLUS HF1 | PSU: Corsair CS550M | FANCONTROLLER: NZXT Sentry 2 | Storage 300 gb WD VelociRaptor/ 1TB WD caviar green|

mouse/keyboard: CMStorm Devastator | Headset: Plantronics RIG|

Even if I stuck with the 4670K and the Gigabyte mobo and the 780 would they be all compatible? I really want to keep the build around 1,500 but spending an extra 50$ for the 16GB of ram is worth it. If I had the extra money I would go for a i7 with a GTX Titan. ;)

Thanks for the replies!

How's this look? Everything should be compatible?

EDIT: Does the i5 4690K work with the Gigabyte G1. Sniper Z87 mobo?

Looks good. No a 4690k does not work on a z87 chipset

Is there a green Z97 board that I could replace? I really liked how the Z87 board glowed green. It seems weird having a red board, blue ram, and then having the green glow of the 780. Thanks!

nope I searched and couldnt find anything, maybe that z87 board will be compatable with a bios update but you need to look that up
