I currently have a single Radeon 7950 in my system, and I am looking to upgrade to an R9 290. I am going to need a new power supply if I do this, and I definitely want to be able to Crossfire two of them in the near future. Because of this, how big a power supply would you recommend getting? I was originally going to get one that is 750 Watts, but I know that is too small, so would 850 Watts be enough?

Thanks for all your help.

A quality 750W will be fine.

Would a Cooler Master V750 be good enough?

Very good PSU, definitely good enough. Made by Enhance Electronics: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=383

The Good:

  • shallow depth
  • excellent build quality
  • very good voltage regulation
  • excellent ripple suppression on the 12V rail

The Bad:

  • nothing

Would a Cooler Master V750 be good enough?

it will be doable

typically single 290 runs at 250-300 watts

dual is up to 600 watts

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
