I'm a novice when it comes to OC so I just want to make sure I'm not overvolting and killing my CPU. I atempted a mild OC of my i5 3570K and I only changed the 'CPU Ratio' to 37 (3.7GHz) and 'CPU Core Voltage' to 1.045v. When the voltage was set to auto (before I changed it) it was running at 1.040v at default so I wanted to try and push an OC without changing voltage much. I ran prime95 and according to core temp it was no higher than 55 degrees on stress and 30-35 idle. Is this ok? Should I try to lower voltage and see if it can be stable at 1.040v?

Also I loaded the XMP Profile for my RAM to run at 1600MHz but should I also change the bios setting called 'DRAM Frequency' and set that to 1600MHz as well?

If 3.9 is all you want, then lower the voltage until it doesn't work any more. Then bump that up .01v. (just something I like to do to make sure.) If you XMP profile is set, you don't need to touch the DRAM frequency. If you want ALL DEM GHZ then put the voltage to a point where it is almost too hot and try to make the clock speed as high as you can.

That's good.. I'd try pushing it farther rather than trying to lower voltages at the moment.

Maybe try ~4.4 Ghz @ ~1.200v?

I don't believe it really matters what DRAM freq is if its loaded the XMP profile correctly. I've done it both ways in my system and didn't notice a difference.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems
