hey everyone I'm trying to overclock my GTX 780 and I'm having a power issue where the power percentage gets to 115 percent and then my Gpu starts throttling I have a custom bios and I'm running 1.325 volts and I have my GPU clocked at 1.36 ghz and my ram is running at 6800 mhz. I have a custom loop and my temps never get over 55°c i was just wondering if anyone knows how I can get my tdp percentage higher because I need it to oc any further

Thanks,

Mike

which model of the GTX780 you have

and which software did you use?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I have an evga gtx 780 sc with acx cooler( but i have a waterblock ), and i use msi afterburner to do my overclocking

Not sure about afterburner or the 780, but I can overvolt my 780 ti SC with acx through EVGA Precision by 75 mV above the %106 by clicking the overvolting menu.

What does that raise the working voltage to? I can't get above 1.187V on mine.

That'd be almost twice the stock voltage and kill your gpu. The 150% will probably do the same

You are pretty fucking lucky to get that chip to 1.36ghz.. mine only does 1150mhz.

raising the voltage allows for you to get a higher clock speed and have it be stable.

I'm completely aware of what it does. I'm asking what his voltage is at.

What custom bios do you have? My card can go to 1.5v and 150% though I would never go that far. What do you mean the gpu is throttling? Are there artifacts? Driver crashes?

I have skyn3t's bios, found in this guide. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18545210. By throttling I mean that when it hits 115% power usage the GPU downclocks. Please tell me what bios you have!

I have skyn3ts as well. How do you know it is the power limit. When the card doesn't have enough power, it artifacts AFAIK. It wouldn't downclock unless you're using GPU boost 2.0.

Because when I look in afterburner when the power percentage hits 115% the clocks go down but when its less than 115% it clocks back up to what I have it set at. Skyn3t always disables GPU boost anyways. Do you have a classy? What exact card do you have, and what exact bios do you have.

I have the 780ti classified.

Thats odd. My power draw never crosses 70%. (GPU-Z). Have you checked in GPU-Z. Trying to eliminate as many variables between your case and mine as possible.

Also, are you sure you flashed the bios correctly? I doubt that it would only allow 115% power limit. Download EVGA precision and see if it allows you to go higher in that. I use EVGA precision with almost the same bios as you and can go to 150%.

Ah that's it, I don't think I can flash the classy bios, unless you think I can. I know the classy bios allows for you to have 150% tdp increase. I just have an acx sc edition. In precision x I still just get 115%

There is a SC version on that guide though. I'm sure that allows more than 115%
