so i own an intel core i5 650 @ 3.20GHz  it has 2 cores on 4 threads

i was planning on getting a new graphics card , either a 760 or a 770 gtx(depending on which one i can afford)

will my processer bottle neck the card's preformance , and will overclocking fix that ?

well my current card is a GeForce 9400 GT(piece of garbage) , so i'm pretty sure i'll notice a difference :P
would you suggest buying a new processor and rig as a whole instead of upgrading ? cause i'm pretty sure quad core processors arnt compatible with my mobo.

i'm going for a decent gaming pc , running games at medium is fine by me not looking for anything too fancy

You will run into some bottlenecking because of your CPU... but it won't be too bad for a GTX 760. It's anyway a mid range card that's not that demanding.

For sure with a later revision of an i5 (like Ivy i.e.) you would have more performance, but I guess if you are stepping up from a 9400 to a more up do date GPU, you are going to be happy.

If you upgrade your GPU, you will be able to play games decently. Overclocking will make a substial difference assuming your cpu isn't a poo overclocker. If money is an issue go for a hyper 212. Literally a haswell i3 will perform better than your i5 so if you can't afford to upgrade to an i5 but have enough for an i3 upgrade go for it. An i3 wont bottleneck a 760 apart from in cpu intensive games.

You can get The i7 860 on that board also so that's an option.
