New Build (Budget approx. $850-900ish)

iceren12

I am looking to build a new desktop to replace my aging laptop (i7 2720QM and 6770M). My general purpose will be gaming, but I will also be doing a bit of photo and video editing. I'd like something that would allow me to use either VT-d or AMD-Vi, but seeing as any "k" series processor doesn't have support for VT-d, that leaves me with AMD-Vi, but by going with AMD, how much performance am I sacrificing?

@iceren12 - In the second build:

- Go with 8320 and 990 Mobo

- Go with a better SSD manufacturer

-If you can, go with 280x (but if you're planning on OC'ing the GPU, then it's not needed)

Here, you can try this, it's a little over your budget, but i think it's better :D

Motherboard: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($114.97 @ OutletPC)

Or this, if that's too expensive, or you're OC'ing your GPU :D

Other than signing up for intel's retail edge and missing a 4770k for $100, (anyone know of any discounts I'd get from working at Best Buy?) I'm thinking of ditching the 1TB mechanical and going with a 3TB drive I have laying around. Also, I think I'll ditch the NIC and grab it at a later date. By doing that I've already saved $100. Also, I'm not sure of how much more I'd utilize a R9 290, but it is tempting.
