Do anything need to be changed or any last minute ideas on this?

I have never built a computer bfore but have watched plenty of videos to know what I am doing somewhat.

Keep in mind that I live in the US lower 48. This computer will be for gaming but also some light 3d rendring programs and also school work. I play anywhere from bf4 to payday 2 to pre alfa games like factorio to saints row to gta.

I have a budget of $5000 max, I dont have to use all of it, just want to use high quality parts at the cheapest price if possible.

Things to keep through out this, this is going to be in a corsair air 540, I need an optical drive( dont give me a hard time abou it please), a monitor, os (windows 8.1), keyboard, and speakers. I have a mouse that works fine.

For that budget have you thought about doing dual zeon processors? I think I would go that way for the budget to get maximum processing power :D

Also have you though about getting a quadro card for the 3D rendering? You've got an extra grand that you could spend on that if you didn't want to go dual zeon.

Quadro card- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133485&cm_re=quadro_k4000-_-14-133-485-_-Product

It is a logitech, idk what type but it fits my hands well and doesnt take much for it to get to the other side of the screen.

Read my edit to. It would help when rendering a 3D animation if you didn't go with a quadro.

4790k

16GB

780Ti

would probably do to be honest especially only running a single 1080p monitor

The cpu I have right now have 6 cours, from what i have been told that byitself is enough or is it? Sorry, dont know much about a quadro card. Sow a linus video where they used two cards in one computer so like the quadro and the like a r9 290?

Alright here's what I would do personally if I had the same buget. Leave everything as is and add a quadro k4000(only if you plan on doing quit a bit of 3D rendering) and a second monitor(well actually personally I would have a total of 4 monitors but your not me so. :D ).

I talk to a few people from that uniersity that have or are taking the undergraduate program i want to do and they said that the 3d rendering is light. So do you think i could get away with 2 r9 290 instead?

I would buy the 2 780s personally(and from what I understand the 780s would render better then amd cards).

You have no idea how much productivity is improved by when you add a second(or third) monitor.

1) you will really like having 3 monitors to work on. Your budget allows it :)

2) 1440p is the new 1080p. Highly recommend it.

3) If you decide to stick with a single monitor and two 780s, get them from EVGA, Gigabyte, or ASUS.

4) Don't get corsair performance edition fans. They are way to loud. Go for some noctua fans for best airflow, noise, and static pressure. Change ALL your fans to noctua fans. Case and H105 fans too.

I have always worked with just one monitor, woudl it really make that much of a difference with more? What cards support and can handle 1440p. I did hear that coctua did make some of the best fans so alright.

Yeah with 3 monitors you can work on multiple things at the same time without having to switch windows. You can also watch videos or listen to music on one screen, while working on two others.

Two 780s can do a single 1440p. If you go triple 1440p you should go for two 780tis, or possibly 3. The nice thing about 1440p is that you can get a larger 27" monitor without losing pixel density.

You can also do triple 1080p monitors if you don't care for 1440p. Best way is to go to a computer store and look at the difference between a 24" 1080p and 27" 1440p

290x if you are doing 1440p monitors. 780ti for 1080p.

Titan is not worth it unless you need double precision.

290 is for people on more of a budget, not for someone with up to $5k :P

a single 780ti is a better choice than two 780s
