PC Repair Tech in Training needs help

SlayerOfHellWyrm

So, I've been doing minor PC repairs for about 5 years now, and I'm going to college to become a full time, more advanced repair technician/system administrator. Was wondering, what kind of software/tools do y'all legit repair technicians have or use?

I've been looking around, trying to get a catalog of tools together, and I have a basic repair kit and had some software tools on a USB drive that recently died.

PS: New to the LTT forums, so be gentle please xD

I guess one of those little portable PSUs would be useful.

I carry a USB drive with me loaded with a bunch of Malwarebytes tools, CCleaner and some other stuff (no not porn). I'm not a full-time repair tech, but I do plan on going into a similar field, and people who know me are aware of that, so I carry that USB stick with me just in case.

Currently for software waiting to be put back onto  USB drive, I've got:

  • CCleaner
  • Malewarebytes Chameleon
  • Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder
  • OPHcrack (On a bootable DVD)
  • Prime 95
  • RealTemp
  • Process Explorer
  • the full sutie of Windows SysInternals

As for the physical repair kit, that's posted above, just something quick and dirty I got before I required it for my Hardware course.

Also have install Discs for Win 7, and 8 to act as repair discs.

iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit plus Expansion 1 and Expansion 2.

I also have a 128GB flash drive from Micro Center with a bunch of Linux and BSD distributions to test possibly compromised systems. I have a MacBook Pro Retina Display 13" running OS X as well as #! Linux for penetrations testing. VMware Fusion has a ton of my VMs set up on it for deploying test systems, etc.

It also has the AVG recovery toolkit as well as Malwarebytes, CCleaner and Portable Apps.

EDIT: Also a dedicated 8GB flash drive for TAILS. That's critical.
