60 degree C crash

my graphics card seems to be crashing high intensity games when it reaches 60C as a safety  feature, this is annoying me. I wondered whether you could change a setting to turn this off ?

 

I5 3570K 4.2GHZ

 

Sapphire 7870

 

psu corsair 500W

60c is no where near dangerous so I don't understand why they would implement a feature like that. Are you sure that's whats happening?

It happens in watch dogs and just cause 2 

 

Is it a driver issue? i'm using 14.4

I heard people with problems with that driver, I even have spontaneous problem with it at boot when using multimonitor...

try switching back to 13.12

the problem with that is it then doesnt work with simcity tho i prefer watch dogs

So the game crashes? Or the driver crashes and in turn crashes the game? A safety feature should only throttle the card, not cause a crash. And 60c isn't hot for a GPU at load, so something's amiss.

Might have a bad card. Is it new? Just happened recently? Do you get artifacting? It's the card clean?

it has been happening recently and i have had it for a year. 

 

Update after play watch dogs for half an hour i get just a blue screen and jc2 i get a red screen ??????

actually ill try 14.7 beta as apperently these dont cuase the game to crash and have been optomised for watch dogs

ok ive just played watch dogs for 2 hours and no crashes so 14.7 works
