Hey Guys

Sorry to post this as it has been done countless times but I need to get clarification my head is wrecked.

So basically im using the Playstation 3 Wireless headset at the moment which are very good

But I want to upgrade and am wondering will it be that noticeable and ideas for which headphones?

Just to note my main feature I look for, is to use it for Gaming and really what started me wanting to upgrade is wanting better quality but to have excellent surround sound (positional sound) from FPS games for that more immersive experience.

So what are good models to look at.

And for what Im using it for is there need to go expensive will it be worth it ?

Thanks again

DT 880, HD 558 or 518, or AD700X. Either would be good starts for headphones. Other things that would be helpful would be a mixamp to allow console use, a splitter cable to have mic and headphones routed into the mixamp for use on console,

Fiio D3 and E6 to connect the optical out on your ps3 to 3.5mm for the headphones. As for the actual headphones there are so many choices. If you want the best positional audio you will definitely have to go for open headphones. AKG K612 is very open as well as great sounding and not lacking bass like open headphones usually. Audio Technica AD700x has a slightly wider sound stage but lacks in bass. I personally prefer the AKG K612. DT990 is a good option too but I'm not sure how wide the sound stage is.

So I narrowed to AKG K612 AKG 240 mk2, beyerdynamic 770, 880 and the audio techniq AD700X, what ya think what u go for ?

Guys on the beyerdynamic the diff types.are.32 to 250 ohmz is this just regarding the loudness of the speaker?

Personally, i like the AKG K612 for open and the DT770 for closed. As for the ohms, it's 1 factor of how hard they are to drive. For the Beyers, 32 and 80 are very easy and shouldn't require an amp, the 250 might depending on your motherboard. And the mixamp or the dac/amp I mentioned do not need to be used for PC.

Nope, plug in your mic straight to a rear USB port (if you got the Yeti/Snowball). I plug my headphones straight in to my Yeti but the ones you bought have quite a high impedance, so either straight in to your PC or get a soundcard or external DAC/AMP, neither are too expensive.

Mix amp's are for consoles really.

Hey Twoscoops

Loving the AKG K612 pro but as you said there very low.

Now I bought what I thought was a mix amp but its just the RX unit of a mix amp

Not sure what to get now any idea if a tx unit is all I need or suggestions for a cheap sound card that will help me.

1 thing I like with the mix amp is the fact it can make it wireless

Thank again
