Minecraft on AMD cards

Okay, I've seen lots of people with AMD cards getting ridiculously low fps in minecraft, because the cards don't see minecraft as a 3d application. I've seen people say that creating a profile in Catalyst control center will help fix this, but in my days of searching, i haven't confirmed this. Can anyone here?

I had to do this with Dark Souls so I can only assume it will work in Minecraft, the profile will make the card run at what you set no matter what you are doing. Wish I could do that with Nvidia but they lock their shit down like a fucking vault which is super shitty.

Nah, you actually CAN do this on nVidia, in the control panel. Just haven';t been able to confirm this working with AMD in minecraft, because of java and stuff

i have a 7870 and get ridiculously HIGH FPS on Minecraft with the default graphics settings. when i have 57 mods installed i get 60 - 100 and without mods i get over 200
