Need A New Amplifier

Go to solution Solved by Lutkeveld,

My two bucks:

Take a TA2024 from Ebay, 6 bucks including delivery, and power it with a molex from your PC power supply.

You could even build it into a 5.25 drive bay on some sticky plastic standoffs and put the speaker terminals in a PCI slot.

Wiring is simple, take a yellow for +12v and black for ground. Pay attention to correct wiring because reversing causes smoke :)

Only harmless to the 6 dollar amplifier tho, PSU won't be hurt.

I currently have to speakers hooked up to my old amplifier i got from my grandpa.

The speakers and the amplifier are pretty old, but they do the job.

But now i want to get a new amplifier, which should be small and not have extra features.

I need cinch/3.5mm input and output for my two speakers.

speaker specs: power rating 60w, music power rating 90w, amplifier connection 4....Ohm

which amplifier should i get?

amazon.de would be prefered.

i dont want to spend more than necessary.

I would find a good circuit diagram and build one for yourself, trust me, they are better. Plus, you get the satisfaction of building it.

If not, I'd get a car amplifier and convert it to use for yourself, car amplifiers are always nice.

Compatible with Windows 95

I have the 100W 8 ohm stable version and it sounds fantastic. it's very transparent and you hear your speakers. the amp just feeds the sound pure and uncolored.

If you source the parts cheaply off eBay, you can probably build one for £20-£30

And if you go for a car amplifier, you will have to find one (generally £30-£60) and then a power supply for it. You may use a PC power supply because it runs at 12v.

Lol why would you do that..... It's a good solution if you need a couple of hundred watts of power, but that's not what he asked for.

Just get a desktop amplifier of some sort, like the one Pjtruslow links. Or source a Muse from Ebay. Real cheap, real good ;).

looks good, but not particularly cheap either. :-(

I don't know your electronics skill but it is certainly not a beginners project. Plus it'll be very bulky and difficult to deal with. How would you go about changing the volume for example?

there would be a way to build it into my desk.

i am not a complete noob, but learning something would be great :-)

Ebay ships to Germany right? They ship to my door for free in the Netherlands at least, Germany is in my backyard ;p.

I started with computer stuff too but then it got boring and I went into audio ;)

15 watt is plenty, no problem with your speakers. Will get plenty loud.

Just note the long delivery time. Normally within 2 weeks, but could take 2 months if you have bad luck.

uh.

and this particular product cant be found anywhere else?

Well, you're looking at something like this:

http://amplifiercircuit.net/90-w-audio-power-amplifier-based-on-transistor.html

Definitely not a slap-dash solution, takes a lot of time and preparation, but you will be proud of it for years to come.
