Computer Overheating

Go to solution Solved by natz1396,

One of my best friends is Australian so, no worries about explaining things. :P

If the cooler is mounted properly and it's still idling at 50, it does sound like something is wrong with that cooler. I mean, I have a single tower cooling my i5 with less than stellar fans with so-so static pressure and that cools better. I'm also in one of the hotter states and it's summer over here. The H80 should beat the pants off my Enermax Black Twister. Hmmm, when I apply thermal compound on a cpu, all I do is a pea drop of TIM in the middle and let gravity take its course. You may need to RMA the thing since something sounds defective here.

Yeah I'll give the cooler one last shot and If it still continues to give me bad temps then I'll try and get a replacement.

I think the forum has done everything to help me. I'm gonna end the thread here.

Thanks for the help!

@natz1396, Is that prime95 you're using to stress test?

Do you have adaptive voltage turned off while stress testing?

Can you move the block at at when it's mounted? Some people have trouble with the H100i needing spacers on the backplate to get firm contact.

Yes that was prime95

Is auto voltage the same or similar to adaptive voltage?

The CPU block cannot be moved.

Typical idle temp on a chip is about 32c, so yeah..this sounds like either a component on that AIO is crap or it's not mounted properly.

Lets say the cooler is mounted properly and I just have a 'dodgy' (australian slang for unreliable or broken) is it worth it trying to get a new one from the warranty? or is it too much of a hassle
