Hey LTT,

I sat down today to try to overclock my friends 4770k and I'm having some issues. At stock voltage his chip can run at 4.1ghz but it takes 1.37v to get to 4.3ghz. Any idea why it takes so much voltage to get so little performance? He isn't comfortable going above 1.4v and he was hoping to get at least 4.6ghz considering his cooling set up. (Custom Loop). Is this a common issue or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Check this out and see if it helps:(Linus in this overclock guide sets the cpu multiplier at 46 and cpu voltage at 1.2V)

watched that tons of time, but if his cpu can't get 4.4 on 1.37v, then I'm sure 4.6 on 1.2 isn't going to work.

He lost the lottery D:

yup, just got a unlucky chip. see if he can return it

You're probably right but why would stock work at 4.1ghz while 1.37v wouldn't work at 4.3ghz?
