I recently got a mod mic for my sennheisers. However my computer isn't detecting the mic when I plug it in. I have tried the jacks on the front and back of my computer, and nothing. I have Realtek HD audio manager, and it tells me that a mic is always plugged in even when it isn't. I've been trying to fix this for a couple of weeks, but have found nothing. Any help is appreciated

I can’t get my ModMic to work. What’s up?

You are using a ~5v powered mic input (PCs have this, Macs don’t), right? A common hurdle is the software setting for the microphone input. Check out this link for troubleshooting microphone problems.

Using a Realtek driver? It dosen't always play nice with mics. Try this.

Have a Xonar card? Try this fix here.

… Yeah, I tried all that. The thing is not working.

Well, %$#*. E-mail our customer service and we’ll ship you a replacement (provided that you’re under the warranty).

Googling around it seems, that they shipped you a dead one. Try it in another device if you can, if it still doesn't work then get them to replace it, if it does work then there is something wrong with Realtek (if other mics also work)

Well, I have confirmed that the mic works. I tried it on another computer. It pics up sound on the other computer, but on my computer it's not picking up any sound at all. Any ideas?

Well now you know the mic works you know it's either the port itself but you said you tried both right? I doubt both are broke so I'd reinstall/update RealTek drivers.

Tried that as well. No dice. I've tried installing audio drivers from HP, but those aren't compatible with my mobo. I might trying using an older version of the realtek audio drivers. Most of the videos I have seen do not use the newset version of realtek. Even the one given by Antlion support. So an older driver may be my best bet

I installed an earlier driver, Realtek HD Audio ver. 2.33. the result i got was like the image above, except that now my audio ports, front and back, don't detect the mic. I'm now installing a slightly newer version (2.57). Hopefully things will go better this time around. I may have been wrong about the ports, but i hope not cause I got static from the mic when connected to the front port. But I will see. Thanks guys for your help so far. I'll keep the updates coming.

Still no luck. I'm not sure if this helps but my monitor is connected via HDMI cable which is hooked up to my gpu. Under playback devices is my monitor (with built in speakers), speakers, Realtek HD Audio 2nd output, and Realtek digital output (S/PDIF). The last 2 work. 2nd output is from my headphone jack in the front, so this means the front audio jacks work. The realtek audio manager(older version) now follows the same GUI as the video from Antlion tech support. I tried their method again, but still no dice. The front jacks work, the mic works, but the mic doesn't get recognized and the audio manager tells me that a mic is plugged in when there isn't one there. This is all I have so far. Sorry if I made things sound confusing.

What mic do you have? Have you checked the website of the mic to see if you have to install any software for it to be detected? If you have no luck, would it be better to return it and get a USB mic?
