Hello, I plan on building my computer around february, I know PC parts evolve quickly but I can adapt when I buy it.

1. Budget & Location : My budget is around 1250€, I'm from France, I would be willing to go above my budget for extra performance (within reason of course).

2. Aim : High end gaming, I want to be able to run all my games at the maximum settings no problem. I'm also interested in getting in to small tournements (mainly for FPS games).

3. Monitors : I'm starting with one monitor, 24" 1080p. I plan on moving to dual monitors one day (also 24" 1080p)

4. Peripherals : I will need a gaming mouse, a mechanical gaming keyboard (Backlit) and a monitor. I'm right handed.

5. Extra Info : Intel & Nvidia setup, Windowed Case, I'm looking for something that will stay very cool and quiet.

If anyone could send me either links to baskets with the parts or just a list of what parts they would use I would appreciate it.

Jack

@djdwosk97 I want a Nvidia card

Then 770 or 780, whatever the budget allows. Although the 290 is a better deal.

@wtfxmitchell On LDLC, the French big computer parts site, I'm at 1530€ your build

I hadn't really thought about putting a SSD in my computer, are they really necessary for a gaming rig ?

Also, would a GTX 770 do ?

How do you people know what to put here ?

I know AMD are better for Multi Screen but, it's mostly for the extras like Nvidia PhysX that you don't get on AMD. I'll have a look at the 290

Yes, an ssd is amazing, you won't notice an gps increase but everything installed on one loads faster and makes the entire use of windows much snappier.

You can cut costs by getting a 4570*, and h87 board (that supports xfire), a cheaper case (fractal design core 1000), a corsair csm psu, a cheaper mouse (corsair m45/65).

I wouldn't let physx be a deciding factor.

*i choose devils canyon xx90 over regular haswell for overclocking as they tend to be cooler and more consistent, but if you're not overclocking neither are an issue and you therefore might as well get a non devils canyon chip; and therefore 87 board) and save some money.

Edit: a 770 will be good, but a 290 will outperform a 770 all day long. Excluding some editing programs, which benefit from cuda cores.

Thanks for the information, I'm playing around with pieces on the website. I might end up going with an AMD card, my friend say's that they work very well, and that more games are built for AMD and are optimized for them, plus, I can have 2 screens with no hiccups.

I'll let you know about the price when I'm happy with it all, but then again if I'm buying it in February the prices will be down by then.

Not sure if you saw my edit, buta 290 will outperform a 770 any day even in nvidia optimized games.

Also, by February broadwell and the 800 series will more than likely be out--broadwell not being a big deal as it will only be marginally better than haswwll, but the 800 series should be a nice improvement as well as driving down 780 prices.

In any case, I would personally get an overclockable chip as you may want to oc in the future.

what if you change the 4690k to a 4690 and the msi z97m to msi z97-g43 and a 120gb ssd instead a 240?

Here is my basket : http://www.ldlc.com/b-36b347e8ac49758e.html

It's expensive, but will it last me ? How much do prices go down in 6 months on average ? One good thing about this website is that they do sales every week and about once a month they do a 6% of your final price which doesn't seem like much but it helps.

Any things need tweaking ?

How do you people know what to put here ?
