Planning a build.

jedylan

Here is the part list: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/jedylan/saved/ytfmP6

It is a Work and gaming station.

I do some 3D rendering. A lot of HD footage editing. Some visual effects and a lot of photo editing.

I also play games as: battlefield and assassin's creed.

I wanted a well working, good looking, and not too noisy pc for around 3500$ the speakers I bought are counted in the price.

I will wait for the rgb keyboard and mice of corsair to be released.

I was not sure about the h100i to fit in. But I think I can front mount it as an air intake? Didnt want to air cool I think they dont look as good.

I also hesitated between the gtx780 & gtx780ti any thoughts?

I took a stronger power supply so I can upgrade to dual sli in the future.

I Plan to overclock the cpu.

I also thought of adding a seperate 60go ssd just for the OS?

Dont want to go with Windows 8 but im not sure Windows 9 will be worth the wait.

Not sure if I need 32go of ram. So got 16 and know I can still upgrade.

What do you think? Is there any problems with my build?

I choose a 4790K because it's haswell refresh and its base clock is 4.0Ghz compare to 4770K's 3.5Ghz

That's a very expensive and overkill mobo, so I switched to the Z97X UD5H from Gigabyte

For dual monitor setup, I think 6GB single 780 will be better than 3GB 780

My current rig for entertainment/gaming: i5 4570 3,2GHz; MSI B85M-E45; ZOTAC GTX760 AMP!; 8GB (2x4GB) by Kingston; Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm; Corsair 200R, Corsair VS650; Dell U2312HM, Samsung DVD R/W optical drive; CM Devastator; Corsair MM400 gaming pad

I suggest waiting and not getting anything right now. Wait for haswell E and get a 5820k which will be the 350 dollar cpu but it will be a 6 core. Which im sure will help massively in all the editing you will be doing. It's only a few months off but that is my suggestion. If you need it now do what you are going except get a cooler master 750v for the psu. 70 dollars cheaper and the only thing you would lose is full modualirity will be semi.

You are rigth about the power supply.

I am not sure about the motherboard since the formula has much more usb plugs. The hero has 6 and for me it is not much. I work mostly with external drives. But is it worth the 60$ for the 4 usb3 plugs it adds

Why not Windows 8.1? Ever used it?
I wouldn't add a 60gb SSD for the OS. You'll rapidly run out of room. It won't eat up too much of your 500gb SSD.

Why do you have 2 1tb drives instead of a 2tb drive?

Do you really need the BluRay drive?

What kind of projects are you working on? Programs being used?

Is value at all an issue or do you just have $3500 to blow?
