Wolfdale Intel Pentium

Hey guys,

 

I'm curious about this desktop, it is a pre-built piece of shit at the place where I work and I don't understand why it is pulling that kind of voltage. The temperatures are fine according to HWMonitor and there is no overclock though I didn't include it with the screenshot.

 

I don't think it is and maybe a stupid question on my part but is this normal for an old Wolfdale CPU?

This isn't normal but could be because of the shitty oem motherboard.

 

My boss had owned this for like 3 years and I can only guess that it has been at that voltage, I'm surprised it hasn't killed it yet.

What does it say in the BIOS? My Pentium 3 doesn't even take that much voltage... Close, but it runs at 2.0v (1.8 when I undervolted it).

Can you run a couple other utilities and see what they have to say about the voltage? Might just be the board reporting it wrong.

If I had my AIDA64 software I could have installed it and read what the sensors are saying but I didn't have my flash drive with me today.

If it's not running that hot it's probably the board reporting wrong. Seriously, I think these things ran at 1.45 V or something so that much extra would be almost certain death.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.
