Is my PC bottlenecking?

Go to solution Solved by flibberdipper,

That thing is just too slow and outdated to bother with, OP. Might as well save up to get a whole new rig.

Hello guys!

I'm very intrigued in why I'm not getting a better performance with my PC, since I have a pretty decent GPU and I have never experienced a big frame rate in any recent game. So I came to the conclusion that maybe my pc is bottlenecking. Can you help me?

GPU: Ati HD Radeon 5670 1GB GDDR5 (currently being overclocked)

CPU: Intel E5300 (Double processor 2.60Ghz)

RAM: 4 GB Kingston

PSU: 400w nothing-so-awesome

MOBO: ASRock N68-S

I can't even get games like 'Battlefield bad company 2', which i am running in medium settings and I have also tweaked its .cfg, to run smooth. I'm thinking it could be because of the processor. What do you think?

Thank you! Any help is appreciated.

Your gpu isn't that great tho.

But it's also your cpu. conclusion it's an old computer not worth to upgrade. Or you need to find cheap parts.

Your best option is to really just save up for a completely new PC. There's not much point spending money to upgrade something so outdated.

I see your point, but I built this PC back in 2010 and I couldn't even get games of that year to work properly.

I never tried playing Battlefield 3 nor any 2014 games.

However, I will do as you people say. Gotta save money. Thank you!

Your processor is just shit for gaming, the gpu is a bit better but still pretty old. Also, 4GB of RAM won't get you far.

I totally agree with be4rgryllz....your processor is one of the biggest issues you have. And what is your ram ddr, ddr2 or dd3? How about your drives, are they ide, or sata? At this point just start piecing out parts for a new pc.

My HDD is sata, and both ram cards are ddr2.

Oh ok...well im not really sure of your financial status but if its not really in your budget to get a new pc just start buying one piece at a time until you have everything you need.

Yes sir, I'm also thinking about that. Thanks for the hand!

Yeah, time for a new build.  I have used a E7200 and 8800GTX for a while and in the process of upgrading now.

The only upgrade that would possibly be worthwhile would be to get an old socket 771 Xeon Quad Core (you can get off of eBay for $40-$50) and modify your 775 socket to install it.

Pretty much any new CPU would still be better, but its a pretty good upgrade for the price.
