If you install the latest drivers from AMD it should be ok, but windoze usually installs some anyhow to get a decent resolutions.

You may still download Windows 7 drivers for the HD 2000 series off of AMD's website.

The Radeon HD 2000 series (along with the HD 3000 and 4000 series) graphics cards are now considered legacy products. They will still get driver updates for bug fixes and such, but there won't be any for performance improvements. Additionally, the "monthly" drivers (that you can typically get for the HD 5000, 6000, 7000, a R series) will not work with them; they use their own separate drivers, dedicated for the legacy products.

AMD has moved to the AMD Radeon™ HD 4000, AMD Radeon HD 3000, and AMD Radeon HD 2000 Series new driver support model. These updates will focus on resolving application specific issues and critical updates. The reason for the shift in support policy is largely due to the fact that the AMD Radeon HD 4000, AMD Radeon HD 3000, and AMD Radeon HD 2000 Series have been optimized to their maximum potential from a performance and feature perspective.

According to AMD, the last driver update for the legacy products on Windows 7 is dated 10/14/2013, which is driver version 13.9.

There are also drivers for Windows 8 (not 8.1), but they are a bit older; 1/20/2013, driver version 13.1. There is also a slightly newer beta driver; 4/28/2013, driver version 13.4.

  1. Go to AMD.com and  click on "Drivers + Support"
  2. Click on "Drivers + Download Center"
  3. "Select the type of system you have" --> Desktop Graphics
  4. "Select the product family your product belongs to" --> Radeon HD Series
  5. "Select your product" --> Radeon HD 2xxx Series PCIe
  6. "Select the supported operating system that you have" -- Choose the one that is applicable for your (Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit)
  7. Click on the "Display Results" button

I just found a HIS Radeon HD 2400 pro (256MB) graphics card. And I actually had an old pc waiting for a first gen PCI-e to pop up.

My question or request is if anyone knows are there windows 7 drivers for this card ?
