SO I just finished building my first computer. Everything has gone really smooth... up until now. I have been able to hook my computer up to the monitor and successfully get it into the bios. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get  my mouse to work. I own a razer death adder 2013, I plug it into the computer a it lights up green signalling it has power, but I can't move the mouse on the screen. So I tried it again, but with a different mouse. It was some cheap logitech mouse that was wireless, and still, no results. Any help is great. Thanks!

First, try a different port. Then try a different controller (change from front to rear or vice versa). I know it might be banal, but worth a try.

EDIT: do other USB devices work?

I don't think there is even a key for this on a desktop but maybe it could be a function key that disables user input using a mouse.

If there was a way you could look at the windows logs using the keyboard that would help alot. Even looking in the device manager would help, I mean who knows maybe its disabled.

Not a bad Idea seeing as it's a somewhat fresh install.

even if it wasnt, why not do it, just save your important stuff on a external drive and format it, at least thats what i do when my pc gets all cluttered

Sometimes the mouse or keyboard won't work in the bios. Most of the time the keyboard will work though and you can navigate though the bios just fine with just keyboard. Just try different ports if you really must use a mouse though.

At times it's a pain. I've almost got my whole steam library installed and it would suck to have to reinstall lol

That reminds be about something. If it doesn't work in the BIOS then then the usb port(s) may be disabled in it or they're dead. If they're disabled, for some reason, that can be fixed by clearing the CMOS.

1) does it work in the bios

2) maybe drivers got fk'd up, try reinstalling windows

3) if that doesn't work, maybe a bad motherboard

you should check your bios and make sure that legacy support is on. usb mouse and keyboards all use universal drivers supported by Microsoft to avoid these issues. its only till you change a setting in your bios that it does not get initialized.

I'm pretty sure the issue here is that his mouse doesn't work in the BIOS...

Oh the good old days where everyone knew how to navigate a BIOS with just the keyboard...

Yes you should be able to navigate the complete BIOS using just a keyboard... If you can't then well that must be one shitty motherboard...
