Philadelphia - Just got here & looking for #justarrived advice

izt_is
Hey guys!just arrived in Philly for a 4 week clinical elective at UPenn. Nearly got stranded at Boston Logan Airport yesterday after a 5 hour delay (no thank you hurricane Arthur!) but I've got here now and am quite excited. From what's I've seen so far, Philly is a really nice place. I'm actually thinking of coming here to work if I can get a job once I graduate...

*Note: I currently live with Host on Regent Street, it's a 15 minute walk from Penn Campus

Anyway some questions I have:

1) What's Philly like in terms of safety? I assume it's safe to walk around in the daytime alone. What about night time?

2) Any thoughts on the neighborhood I live in?

4) What' cycling like? I'm an avid city cyclist in Dublin, not sure if I should rent a bicycle for use while I'm here. It seems kinda pricey to get a bike and sell it back for half when I'm done....maybe I'm better off just getting a monthly Transit pass?

5) When buying groceries, the Fresh Grocer looks to be the nearest supermarket. Its nice, but are there any other supermarkets? I was expecting to see Walmart type things everywhere!

6) Best techie type place to buy electronics, PC parts etc.? Or should I stick to amazon/newegg?

7) Food Recommendations of course!

Thank you! <3

Philly.... Sounds funny. Hehe

Sounds like a nickname one would give Dr. Phil.
