Hey,

I am thinking about upgrading my processor to an i5- 3570k and thus also need to upgrade my motherboard, I have been reading around and cannot decide which to get.

These are what I am thinking, my budget is around £150

Asus P8Z77-V Pro

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-P8Z77-V-Motherboard-iControl-CrossFireX/dp/B007KZQE6C/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top#productDetails

MSI Z77A - GD65

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007JRGW1I/?tag=pcp0f-21

MSI Z77 MPOWER

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Z77-MPOWER-LGA1155-INTEL-Motherboard/dp/B008VZROK0/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1368866155&sr=1-1&keywords=MSI+Z77-MPOWER+LGA1155

MSI Z77A - G45

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Z77A-G45-Motherboard-Pentium-Celeron/dp/B007JRGVUA/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1368816689&sr=1-2&keywords=MSI+Z77A-G45+motherboard

The cheaper the board is the fast I can save for some liquid cooling however when around the £150 mark it will be a month before I will be able to pick it up, I am looking for a nice motherboard to be able to last for a few years.

Thanks for your advice.

Honestly all those boards are great - I have the Z77A-G45 now with a 3570K and love it, but I mean it all comes down in this case to specific features you like between the boards, be it connectors, audio, bios software, etc. What stuff do you really want/need in your board? If you want to save a bit of money for watercooling i'd personally go for the GD65.

But then again, have you considered waiting a couple weeks to see what Haswell has to offer?

How about a blue and black themed mATX build, perhaps in a 350D? This board would be suitable.

I used one for my parent's build and can recommend it.

If you are planning on a mATX build, with 150 quid, you can easily get a maximus V gene. However, if you are planning on getting this, you might want to wait for a while because the gene VI will be released in early june.

But if you are planning on a standard atx, Sea aych is pretty much spot on.

But ATX motherboards are a waste unless you plan on having a triple graphics card setup or the like. His budget isn't excessively large so he'd get a better bang for the buck going with mATX.

ATX motherboards aren't a complete waste in modern situations as they allow more future expandability. I however was assuming that kernow needed a atx motherboard due to the fact that his case may be a mid-tower and putting in an matx would look out of place.

First of all it doesn't always look out of place, there are many factors to take in to consideration; also, what would "future expandability" entail? If he wanted a good DAC, external solutions perform better than sound cards, and the only other card that he might want is another GPU, which this mATX board supports (the other one supports CrossFireX).

Looking to be able to play Rome Total War 2 etc to the best of the comps ability.
