Its full release will be free to play. You dont have to contribute at all, but if you doo its only 20 dollars.  Plus dayz was a mod. The devs were just screwing around and then it got serious. Sony studios are behind making h1z1.

Pretty sure the final version of DayZ won't be free to play, but if you bought into the Alpha/Beta/Whatever then you won't have to buy it again.

My point still stands. The devs have made their money. What is in it for them to continue?

DayZ was a mod, and it was and still is free. I don't think they had plans to make millions on it by working for Bohemia. That may be a reason to trust them. As I said, I doubt they will run off with the money. But I don't think they have the incentive to really push towards the final release.

I know Sony is behind H1Z1. I don't care. Better publishers have released worse titles before.

I will say this

 

If you want to experience dayz, play the ARMA 2 mods, overwatch,epoch, origins etc.

 

stay  away from the Standalone, as it is not worth your time/money

 

any updates to the game are minor things, and dont seem to matter to me

 

adding multiple colour helmets seems trival to me

 

H1Z1 has my attention more so than dayz Standalone

I don't have any faith in the DayZ devs anymore. I was an avid watcher of streams, and would frequently check the changelogs. Now I'm just bored with the slow development, and got really pissed off by the devs continuously breaking stuff and taking months to fix it. The zombie respawning crap should have been rolled back immediately. I stopped playing weeks after it was sent to Stable and it was still broken when I stopped.

 FFS It's Stable for a reason devs. Stop breaking shit. Test it before you move it from experimental. That's the whole goddamn point of separate Stable and Experimental branches.
