H110 vs. H100i

Keep this between these two products for the love of everything silicon. You can suggest another product with a statement or two about it, but also please provide your input on the H110 and H100i.

I am going to be cooling a 4790K with it.

I am wondering which of these AIO's to get. I am just asking you guys what your thoughts about them or this debate is.

I have also heard of the many downfalls of the H100i and the lack thereof when discussing the H110. That is why I am leaning towards the H110: less QC issues and more RAD space.

I am also wanting to purchase the Noctua IndustrialPPC 3000RPM IP57 for this radiator. Would they be good in terms of static pressure/noise?

http://search.ncix.com/search/?qcatid=0&q=industrialppc

I am aware of other solutions, but I like the idea of the product: the cleanliness, the novelty, and the efficiency.

As someone who owns a H100i, go with the H110.

Ouch^  Why do you say that? Is it something to do with your OC?

It's not that the H100i is a total waist of money it's just that in comparison with the H110 it's kind of a pointless product. You sacrifice the extra cooling capacity of a 280mm radiator just to get Corsair Link, which definitely has a lot to be desired, and a slightly better looking CPU block.

Like I said there is nothing inherently wrong with the H100i, it's that there's no fancy magical feature on the H100i that will make it perform as well as a 280mm radiator such as the H110.

My game systems (PS3 and others) are louder than the two H100i fans while playing games. My father's PC has an H100 installed in it and is much lower spec than mine with an H100i in it: mine runs much more quietly even under load.

Just my experience but going by the temps they're both perfectly good coolers.

I settled on the H110 and never looked back. It keeps my 3770K below 80 degrees C at 4.8 with 1.350 volts. it has a bigger rad, so if your room is usually relatively cool you should be able to keep your 4790K pretty cool. If you really like being able to control things from the OS then the H110i might be a better choice but personally things like corsair link just feel like bloatware, especially when things like that can be done just fine from the BIOS.

I say H110 all the way.

I went with the H110, because I really didn't think I'd need the Corsair Link and wanted the extra cooling performance of a 280mm rad. I do prefer the look of the 100i CPU Block and as far as I can tell, from videos, I'd probably also prefer the mounting hardware.

Every word in that sentence basically sums up what I feel. Corsair Link really is not mature software (whilst the bios is good), 280mm will be nice. The 100i block does look more professional though, but that isn't the biggest issue in the world. Now if they made an "i" series 280mm, then I would jump on that like a cougar in a buffet.

I am going to get my own thermal paste- probably noctua's.

But what about my fan choice? What kind of experience will I be looking at with them? Are they pressure-optimized?

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea how good the included fans are. I pretty much assume included fans are bad / mediocre at best. I swapped mine for a couple of Noctua industrial fans (black Noctua, mmmm).

Fan choices seem to be mostly personal preference, do you prefer silence, aesthetics or performance?

The IndustrialPPC are really cool. They are black, but they still have the brown which hints at the higher quality  ;)

How is the experience for you? (Nice build BTW  :D )

Also I am confused on the push/pull terminology. Is it pushing air out of the case, or pushing air into the case, or is it pulling air out of the case, or pulling air into the case?

Push just means the fans are pushing air through the radiator.

Pull means the fans are pulling air through the radiator.

You can do either of these configurations as both intake or exhaust.

I have mine exhausting air out the top of the case, by mounting the fans on top of the radiator, pulling air from inside the case through the radiator and out of the case.

If I wanted to change this setup to intake, while keeping the pull configration, I would have to mount the fans underneath the radiator, pulling air from outside the case through the radiator and into the case.

I actually haven't done any temperature testing yet, the build is still brand new and I'm on my laptop atm.

if your case can support it go with a a h105. Very close to h110 performance and better availability for fans and a newer design.

Why in the world would want those Noctua fans?

I'll state a very valid reason why you should choose the H105 or the H110 over the H100i; The H100i's pump is made by CoolIT and very prone to failure, the same thing with the H80. The pumps for the H105 and the H110 are made by Asetek and are better quality.

In the past, I have owned two CoolIT units and one H100i. All the pumps were either DOA or started to fail within a short period of time. Cooler Master made their own pump, so did Antec. NZXT, Zalman, and now Corsair have moved over to Asetek.

Is the H105 more recent? I don't think it is, and if it is then I would know it has matched the expectations of current-gen users, expectations I have adapted as my own. if I were to go with older-tech, then I would want to make sure it would do its job well. Can you give me some reasons on why to go with the H105?

Noctua: High-quality, performance, low-sound output. It does the job well.

h105 is a newer release than the h100i and the h110. Go look it up. It performs within a margin of error of the h110. With the thicker 240mm design it accepts 120mm fans which if you are looking for quiet, good quality static pressure fans there are more to choose from then just Noctua in the 120mm form factor.

Disadvantage to the h105 is its thickness and with fans added can create clearance issues in some cases. Also depending on how important this is it lacks the integrated fan control, but if you were considering an H110 I doubt the fan controller is that important to you.

H110 is a great unit but the lack of fan choices and crappy stock fans makes it hard to recommend again.

3000rpm fans aren't going to be that quiet even noctua's.

Let's assume I am stubborn and will only buy Noctua's because I know they will make me happy. So fan selection isn't an issue.

I don't plan on running them at 3000RPM unless I decided to say "why not" and test some noise-cancelling headphones  :P

In a 750D I do not know If I will have any clearance issues.

140mm push more air than 120mm, and I do not have to run them as fast. They will be quieter.

Corsair Link is not important to me.

Is the H105 basically the H100i but with no CorsairLink?

More radiator space is always better.

Can you give some links to other high-quality, pressure optimized, quiet fans?

I personally haven't tried mounting a thicker rad in the 750D, but I had a little trouble fitting the thin rad of the H110, at the top of the case, due to the 8-pin connector (This would not be an issue if the 8-pin cable was more flexible, though). There are other places to mount the thicker rads, though. You can mount it at the front of the case, or you can mount it at the bottom of the case. Both of which requires the removal of one or more 3.5" drive cases, however.

It is very possible that the H105 will fit perfectly at the top, I simply do not know, as I haven't tried it personally. :)

I didn't actually provide a valid reason for the H110, did I? My bad. I recommended the H105 due to it's lack of software interference. Corsair Link is quite buggy and I don't recommend using it.
