Alienware x51 upgrade

Alright so I was wondering if I could switch out the 330w PSU in my x51 to maybe a 750w PSu and put a super high end graphics card like a gtx TITAN or a 700 series card from Nvidia. I was thinking of also switching the case out for a BitFenix Prodigy. All opinions are welcome, good or bad. Feel free to leave some reccomendations on a power supply as well.

 

Current spec:

CPU: i7 3770k at 3.4ghz

GPU: gtx 640

PSU: 330w external brick thing

RAM: 6gb at 1600mghz

MoBo: Unknown.

HDD: 1tb Seagate something or other.

With the psu you can get up to a gtx 660ti. I saw someone put a cx600 and a gtx 670 but the psu would be outside the case. Btw the motherboard will look quite weird if its outside the case

First, what's your budget?

They paired you a gtx640 with that 3770?

 

Well for a higher end card you will need a stronger PSU which may be an issue due to the limitations of the case.

Ok its a normal itx motherboard so you should be fine

Buy a new PSU and Case, then buy your GPU.

A 550W will be enough for any single graphics card.  If you want a Titan/690 or something like that though I'd get a 650W for efficiency.

 

SeaSonic SSR-550RM or X650 would be what I'd do personally.
