1. Budget & Location

My budget is around $1700/$1800, I'm in the US.

2. Aim

The pure purpose of this PC is for gaming, maybe a little photo editing in the future. I want it to last for a long time without me having to upgrade that much.

3. Monitors

I already have one 1080p monitor, I might get a second, so I can multitask easier. Or I might get a 1440p monitor but that will probably far in the future. The most I would ever go is 3 monitors, but not in surround.

4. Peripherals

I have a Razer Deathadder, a 1080p monitor, and if you could include a Logitech G710+ at $55 (I have gift cards)

5. Why am I Upgrading?

I am tired of having a toaster.

If you could make it Intel and Nvidia, no AMD please. I will probably go SLI.

I am going to get a Slverstone FT05 when it comes out, so just list a place holder.

Thanks!

I read the whole thing, 780s are around the same performance as a 290 and is 100$ more so if you want to spend more on something that is the same performance, go ahead

200$ less for a r9 290 windforce tbh..  It'd be stupid not to buy a 290 at that price. 770's cost that much.

Here's mine:

With this build it's ready for 1440p, 1600p, 4k if you want as well, obviously a few things can be cheaper, but all the colors match and it's all perty.

Non-reference 290's aren't loud, the reference ones are. It's 200$ cheaper and the same performance, it'd just be throwing away money to get a 780 at that point.

Nitpicking here:

Thread title: "Best $1800 PC."

That is what they supplied you with. If you were giving them a specific reason on why it has to be NVIDIA, then they would add NVIDIA. But they are trying to suit the thread title and give you what would be the actual best for a $1800 PC.

A good number of 290's and 780's use similar coolers and have similar noise levels. Reference 290's are the hairdryers. Aftermarket one's are much quieter.

Is value at all an issue? Are you just shooting for a system that games well for a good value or do you just have $1700/1800 to blow and would want to spend it all even if you don't have to?

If I didn't have to spend it all that would be nice. But I don't want to exceed that price point.

Isn't there problems with that ssd?

Not really. They changed out the NAND which isn't the best but it's not that bad either. For everyday usage, the difference is likely unnoticeable. If it really bothers you the MX100 is $10 more.

@WoodenMarker This was one of my original list, but I was wary of the r9 290 doesn't fit in the case. The case is also a placeholder until the Silverstone FT05 comes out and I don't know if the card will fit in FT05.

That's more of an issue of the company more than the product's performance.

If you're going to wait for the FT05, you might as well plan later.

Speaking of hair dryers...

ACX cooler please--if you do opt for a 780ti.

That's more of an issue of the company more than the product's performance.

I mean, yes, but I also wouldn't buy from them for that reason....not that other companies are any better....but one can say for a fact Kingston did it, whereas many others would just be speculation.
