Hey guys just be honest I am deciding for my personal atx pc if I should go 760/770 or 270/280/290 gpu s.... I want to record videos, editing work, and my gaming.... so is shadowplay the best option?? Which option is best? Also what software? So main question is recording :)

@luke_2bossly @Prodigydeadeye As said above Raptr recently introduced Game DVR which uses the on-board VCE h.264 encoder to encode video on the fly without using up CPU or GPU resources.

what does that have to do with my post? I said if you can get a better AMD card for the same price, than buy it. I already know about the recording on AMD's side.

I should be studying.

Ahh...they'll move it to the appropriate sub-forum.

For my needs, I'd go with Shadowplay. It's the most simple solution. However, I mainly just cap the occasional piece of gameplay to show my friends silly shit like glitches or other shenanigans and Shadowplay offers little noticeable performance hit.

That being said, if you were gonna do something more serious a capture device would be best.

With software you are still at the mercy of possible comparability issues even if they're rare.

Because you said

I would rather have higher framerates even when not recording.

and the way you posted it made it seem as if you weren't aware AMD had a shadowplay counterpart, and because of that you tried to make him see past the gimmicky feature of recording  with Shadowplay that he might use a few times and then forget about it.

As such I tagged you in the post to make sure that you did indeed know that AMD had a counterpart, Game DVR.

And I'd rather offend you by assuming that you don't know, than assume that you do and leave you unknowing.

...So because I recommended someone get the best card for their money, regardless of the features included, you automatically assumed I didn't know common knowledge that has been posted on this forum multiple times in the last week or two?  :P

No, because you ignored the fact that the feature was present on both cards in your post, and is thus an invalid reason to sway somebody to or from either side to the other, I assumed you didn't know.

And it's common knowledge to those people that live on these ( or other tech ) forums, and I'd feel somewhat stupid assuming that all 78,000 members (discount the duplicates) live on the forums.

I'm sorry #56,746, I'm sorry for not following every single post you've read or made.

mate, if its only for shadowplay AMD gaming evolved has GameDVR and Twitch, so you dont really need ShadowPlay anymore.

If you can get a more powerful AMD card in comparison to a less powerful more expensive Nvidia card, get AMD.

You get more with Nvidia in terms of PhysX and things that will be in alot of new games. Plus shadowplay is great. Yes it's worth staying Nvidia.

Can you record the desktop with shadowplay?

@Prodigydeadeye Yes you can, no mention of desktop recording capability on Game DVR yet.

With the launch of GeForce Experience 2.0 we’re extending ShadowPlay’s capture capabilities to the desktop

Congratulations Jesus. I didn't know it was a competition.

It was as soon as you made 3 posts dedicated to making me feel like a jerk for tagging you in a post for logical reasons, lol.
