I am using a Corsair h100i water cooler and I recently noticed that my temperatures were pretty high. I am getting 45-50C at idle and in the 90's under load! I am not sure if the h100i is defective or if it is something else. I tried to replace the thermal paste using artic silver but it didnt help. I also put in the intel stock cooler and am getting the same temperatures. Also am I looking at the right temperatures? Im not sure if i should look at the temperature in the corsair link, using core temp, or the asus AI suite.

How can I tell if the pump is failing?

Well first put the CPU back to stock clocks and use the stock cooler I know this sounds stupid but trust.  Then take the pump and rad out of the case and shut off all fans expect crucial ones.  Finally, start the pump and listen if it is making weird noises like there is air in it or if it sounds like a gurgling sound.

After that see if the fans are pushing enough air.

Then see if the pump is failing.

The pump is not failing. You can see it is running at 2200rpm in corsair link, perfectly fine.

It seems like your H100i temperature is much higher than it should ever get...

It might be an issue with the tubing getting clogged, I have seen this happen to a couple people. The only solution is to RMA because the pump and fans seems to be running fine. It is definitely not a pump issue, but a liquid flow problem.

It might be possible to fix it by tearing it apart but that will void your warranty... :(

NO dude there should not be the sound of sloshing water. That means there is to little water in the system and without sufficient water your system cant do what it was design to do. Swap out under warrenty

it should sound like that, this is to keep it from exploding when the water expands from the heat.

If you are able to hear the sloshing sound clearly whit out holding it right up to your ear. There is to much air in the system. Fair enough there should be a small margin for the expiation of the water butt this is very little as we do not work whit extreme heat. But to much air will result in bad cooling

Once again this is why I left from closed loop water coolers.
