Thoughts? Is it an acceptable score?

That seems low. With my 670 and 2600K I was able to score an 1804, yes using the extreme preset. Or else that i5 is making a significant different.

Then why are you wasting your time worrying about your Valley score? Don't blame AMD's failures on a 3rd party program. Regardless of AMD being worse than Nvidia, that's still a low score for that card.

r9 290s are in their own league. I didn't want to know that nvidia in better than AMD and all that fanboy bullshit (and that comes from an owner of 4 Nvidia cards). I wanted to know how well my 290 competed with other 290(x)s

In the one benchmark that I could find that actually used the Extreme Preset, the reference 290 scored a 2062. Well above the 1792 that you got. I don't see in the benchmark where they list the CPU that was used in the test bench, but it's still an almost 300 point difference from what you scored.

You're probably better testing it on something like 3dMark since all the Unigine software is Nvidia optimised.

I'm downloading heaven now. I'll report in my reference 290 scores. Meanwhile, my DSL chugs away on the 247mb download. Thank you Comcast for not coming to my house :|
