i want to make raid 1 with wd red 1tb (2 hdd)

but i got some question...
1. am i need dedicated raid card?
2. how much is the performance wasted with onboard raid?
3. can i install windows on raid? or i need another hdd for it?

1. am i need dedicated raid card?

not sure googling that motherboard it doesnt list any raid support in the spec page but  it lists it in the features page  raid 1 and 0

download the manual and check

even if it doesnt have raid u can use software raid 1 using windows

2. how much is the performance wasted with onboard raid?

raid one isnt really heavy to begin with im not sure ull notice an impact since ur just doing 2 drives

3. can i install windows on raid? or i need another hdd for it?

u can install windows on raid  ,no issue

1. i don't see raid 1 support on this motherboard.. even raid word... with software? is that same good like using raid card? i don't want sacrifice my cpu processoing power for that stuff... the cpu usage is focus on server app

2. i'm asking this because i see in youtube in linustechtips channel in raid 5 with dedicated raid card it makes the read and write speed increased amost 2 times...

3. owh ok ok!

According to the few sources out the software raid will consume a little bit of power

Raid 1 isn't heavy I can't see how copying is intensive but raid 5 is whole different story which requires a hardware raid

Just go with software raid 1

use windows's built in utility

buying a raid card for this simple task seems like a waste of money

try this out

i recommend reading more about this before settling on it - i am not a pro on this topic

how much cpu usage it used? i'm worried because i have low end cpu... and it have moderate load when i run the server app (around 50%-60%)

but i think i can do it
