Hyper-threading is just a smart way of minimizing CPU downtime in intensive tasks, there's no reason for it to be implemented in a game, the only game that really benefits right now is 64 player BF3/4 but the gains aren't impressive. Makes more sense to just get more cores in the future.  4 is plenty for games these days, just stick with the 4670k

Hyper threading is irrelevant with gaming in mind.  Games historically require the fastest clock speeds more than anything else. Most games (minus Minecraft) are GPU-bound rather than CPU-bound. In the rare cases that the game is multi-threaded, it looks at the physical core count, rather than the number of threads it can execute.

The purpose of CPU multithreading in workstation use. Applications like the Adobe suite, programming IDEs and Virtual Machines, will need as many threads as possible, as their speed is reliant of the execution of several kernel instructions. They couldn't care less about what clock speed the CPU runs at, which is why none of the Xeon CPUs are overclockable.
