Hey there,

As the title says, I've wanted to upgrade my GPU for a loooong time now. I'm running a AMD Radeon 6950 at the moment. I've got couple of questions about those two cards.

1. Which one would be straight up better to buy ? The 780ti is a bit more expensive over here in my currency. In pounds, it would be something around 100-150 more. Is the price increase worth the 10-15 extra fps ?

2. Would the 780 be a big upgrade to my current card?

3. Do I need to reinstall my system or clean it (something along those lines) in order to make sure that I get the full performance out of my new card ?

4. Would I be able to possibly overclock the 780 to the power of the 780ti, maybe a tiny bit weaker ?

5. Would either one of those cards be able to run the new games that are coming out soon ? I'm talking something like Assassin's Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, Alien: Isolation, Witcher 3, on at least high settings with a stable framerate ? I'm running a 1920x1080 resolution.

Those all the questions I can think of right now, I'll make sure to edit the post if I remember something else.

PS. Please go easy on me, I have no idea whether those questions are just simply stupid, I just got into this whole graphic card thing :)

Thanks in advance for every answer.

1) 780 is typically better value for the money, but obviously 780TI is superior. If you have money to blow and don't mind wasting it a bit, then 780TI

2) Yes

3) No, use guru3d driver sweeper

4) probably not, but it should overclock pretty well. Will also depend a lot on the card. The "overclock X to Y" argument is usually invalid, since in most comparisons made, Y can overclock as well.

1. no it isnt

2. Yes, it will probably double your performance in some cases (that is the 780) (i havent looked up any benches tho)

3. Yes, old drivers will need to removed but nothing to drastically

4. depends, noone can predict how your GPU will overclock, but with some luck it will come closer

1)In most instances the 780ti is not worth it over the 780, especially if you can oc the 780 a lot

2)Yes. That would be a HUGE upgrade over your 6950.

3)Uninstall all of the AMD drivers before you plug in the card or else your system would bug out like craazy!

4)Most likely yes, but that depends on how good of an overclocker your card is. Something like a 780 classified from EVGA might oc quite a bit over others

5)A 780 can do most 1080p games with great frame rates. In fact, you could get a higher resolution 1440p monitor and it could still play most games at ultra.

Happy shopping :)
