Should I get the ATH-AG1, or the modmic 4.0, and put it on a DT880 600 ohms (I have a Xonar Essence STX and a amp)? I am looking to have the quality and audio profile of Seananners, clear, non-poppy, and not a lot of base like GassyMexican's videos (As life likely as possible). Please leave recommendations in the comments on which one to go with, or a different setup. I prefferably want a REALLY high quality for music production and gaming, but also not a standalone mic because I like to lean back and I don't find standalone mics worth the money. If you do find a good combo, just throw it in the comments. Thanks.

Here is the angle I try to look at when I shop for mic/audio stuff on PC since I am a gamer.

I try to avoid any "add-on" mic because I hate to be stuck with too many cables and sometimes get stuck in them or they get all twisted.

I can tell you that ModMic do make good microphones. I have the early model and I haven't heard any complaints so far but I don't know if it is realy lifelike, I haven't listened at myself much and Im at work now.

At the beginning I said I hate multiple cables so I found a pretty nice solution since I don't have to funds to buy an all in one set in the 300$ range.

If you decide to go with ModMic and cables are annoying to you as well, you should buy some sleeving and "join" them together. (see link for exemple)

I did my ModMic with my Beyer and it keeps them tidy and now I have one slightly bigger cable.

Summary :

If you have the Money, buy all in one in my opinion.

If you don't, ModMic is cool and you can sleeve the Headphone/Mic cables combo.

Do you think the mic on the ATH-AG1 is better than the modmic 4.0? I have the money for the ATH-AG1, but I also have enough for a modmic and a DT880 600 ohm. I don't know what the ATH-AG1 sounds like, but I know that the DT880 Premium, well, is premium. I dont really have a budget, nor care about having 2 wires. So in the end, should I get the ATH-AG1, or the modmic+any headset I want?

Yes the mic on that is better but it doesn't sound that great. It's super overpriced but if you are insistent on not having a desktop mic then go get it but you're spending like $100 extra.

If you want studio monitoring headphones (music production), go with the Audio Technica ATH-M50 or ATH-M50x or Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO
If you want a stand alone mic, a good USB microphone is the Blue Yeti or the Audio Technica At2020.
A step up is to use XLR microphones. XLR mics have very good audio quality (depending on which mic you go with) but don't plug directly into your computer. In order to get sound from an XLR source, you need an Audio Interface. Basic ones usually come in at around 100-200 dollars.
The reason GassyMexican's mic is very bassy is very of the Proximity Effect. This means the closer you are to the microphone (turning down gain) the more bass the mic picks up and vice versa.
Do some more research on these topics and youre golden.
