FX-6100 CPU throttling.

Go to solution Solved by Liam-McShane,

I would say it is your motherboard. There is no heatsink on the VRM area and they are probably overheating causing your motherboard to protect itself, thus throttling your CPU.

Hello guys, I've had my CPU overclocked at 4.2ghz stable for the past 8months and i want to bump it up a bit. So i did... I turned up the multiplier a tad, for me to reach 4.3ghz(x21.5) then i stress tested it with Prime95 and i see my temps hit 55degrees c then the CPU downclocks to 1.4ghz-1.5ghz until my temps drop below 55degrees c.

- CnQ is OFF

All the necessary things in the BIOS that needed to be turned off before overclocking is off/disabled.

I don't use LLC because it makes my system unstable  :o .

Just wondering, would this be CPU related? or Motherboard related?

Thanks,

Darell3.
