time warner cable just put out some new modems for some reason so now i have this huge box thing where my tiny modem use to be. Not sure why it had to be so big, but anyways it also seems to have some (non wireless)router capabilities. This is a problem, because i already have a (with wireless capability) router and when i need to port forward for things, my (very) limited networking knowledge tells me i'd now need to forward through both of them. To make it worse, i have no clue how to access the settings on it, it's not using the standard addresses and of course no manual was included, nor can i find any info on this router on the internet.

So if anyone's also been subject to the recent forced "upgrade" and has some insight into how to access the control panel, and set it to always forward it to my full featured wireless route. Networks are probably the IT subject i know the least about, so any help would be much appreciated.

It probably has some kind of DMZ setting(allowing you to bypass the routing functionality on it), but you would have to get into the settings menu, if you post the model number of the unit i might be able to help you more.

the default address is probably 192.168.100.1 default username is admin and default password is password.

Here is a guide for that unit.

Thanks! i managed to get into the settings using the login there, the problem was they were using the same default address as my current router. I changed mine's because i cant find an option to change this one's, but now my internet doesnt function if in a layered setup. About that DMZ function, what should i look for and how can i tell if this modem/router even has it? Just poured over the extremely buggy control panel and i couldnt find anything while it logged me back out every 5 seconds.
