Well I've posted incomplete versions of my build logs onto the forum before, but this should be the final edition to last me through college. I've gone around the block with 5 different cases, 3 different motherboards, and 3 different GPUs. I can now say that I am through nit picking and will complete my rig this weekend when my upgrade parts come in. So here is a list of the components i will be using:

Case: CM Cosmos SE

PSU: XFX XXX PRO 650w 80+ Bronze

Mobo: AsRock z77 eXtreme4

CPU: i7-3770k

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 770 OC Windforce

Cooler: Corsair H80i

RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance 2133mHz Blue

SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 120gb

HDD: WD Blue 500gb

Fans: I have 2 extra CM Blue Sickleflow 140mm in the top to complement the ones in the front

Overall i think i have done a decent job with this build as it has been these past few months. Im not really into modding right now so i don't change much on the case itself. I hope you guys think its a pretty well balanced system and i will be posting some pics this weekend when the parts get here.d

Solid build. If you are not planning on having anything above 1080p, you are fine. Even 1440p is possible with a 770.

The HDD is a little bit small......

I meant to mention this before but i was rushing to get to work. The case, PSU, Mobo, GPU, and HDD I already have and I'm upgrading the rest of the rig. Personally i don't really store much on my personal machine because i have a NAS which is also backed up to an offsite server that me and a friend co-operate. And as for the Cosmos SE case i wasn't a big fan at first when people were reviewing it and saying it was small on the inside, but i think with a system in it it looks pretty bad ass and sharp. Think of the look of a sports car under the hood, it has a lot crammed in, yet looks beautiful. Thanks for the complements guys pictures should be coming up soon of the deconstruction of the current components.

I knew i would forget something! I just changed the list to reflect that i will be upgrading from my current i5-2500k to an i7-3770k.

Do you want to game on this machine or do more?

For gaming, I believe you wouldn't need a better CPU than the 2500k. It won't bottleneck any GPU at the moment.

Most scenarios, you will not have the great benefit but you are paying a lot of money.

PC: AMD Ryzen 7 7700 || Noctua NH-U12S SE2 || 32GB DDR5 6000 CL32  ||
|| Powercolor RX 9070 Reaper || Asus B650E-I

Well i wanted to fix a few things that my current machine didn't have. 1) no PCIe 3.0 support due to the Sandy Bridge processor i currently have 2) give myself some room for light video and audio work and 3) take full advantage of my z77 chipset with an ivy bridge processor, i just didn't have the money when i first bought it two years ago and have been steadily upgrading everything ever since then

1) I get that. Although PCIe 3.0 won't really make a difference......or better, it just will not! ;-)

2) video editing is something where the i7 is definitely nice to have. Then go for it! I would lie, if I said I hadn't looked at prices of an i7. ;-)
