Will a Corsair CX600M 80+ Bronze Certified be enough to power an XFX R9 280? I've heard different things from different websites and forums, the rest of my specs are as follows:

AMD FX 8320

8 GB Crucial Ballistix Elite Ram

Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 mobo

a Wifi card

a DVD drive, 120 Samsung Evo SSD, 1 TB WD Green drive and about 5-6 fans

Yes. That is plenty for that card.

There are plenty of YouTube videos that use a wattage meter and actually show you how many watts you are using.

If you don't feel like watching the 18 minute video, the guy is using a overclocked cpu and 780ti powered by a 430 watt psu. He even runs Unigine Valley for about 20 minutes too.

EDIT: Whoops, not 430 watts but 450 :)

600W is plenty but you could look into 80+Gold certified one (the Corsair RM maybe)

I agree with him. Maybe you could lose some watts but gain a Gold certified PSU.

I suggest going for another brand such as seasonic, xfx, or others as the corsair rm series is pretty bad in terms of build quality.

I am currently running an 8350 @ 4.7ghz and an OCd r9 290 (check my sig for more details) on a 600W platinum rated PSU

If I got a Seasonic would it be better to get 750 watts and bronze certified or 650 watts and gold. their the same price too

Both are overkill. A decent 500w is already plenty.

I am not picking on all corsair PSUs. I said the rm series is of bad quality. It uses capxxon (chinese) secondary caps as well as poor soldering, similar to the cx series which is the worst of all corsair psus (and cheapest). If i were going to buy a cprsair psu, only hx or ax series.

What the hell!? His PSU is more than enough, but you need to tell him that he needs an upgrade - WHY? What would the gold certificate give him? 1$ less in bills?

Speaking only for my self I said that he could look into a 80+Gold, not that he must. The FX 8320 being unlocked it's fair to presume that maybe he'd like to overclock it in which case 80+Gold is always better 80+Bronze. Also I'm a bit of a Corsair RM fanboy  ;)   (affordable, well made, fully modular)

I also really like the RM, it'll be my next PSU, but it's not for everybody. You could also say that he could look into 4 way SLI from 780Ti's...

I said maybe he could lose watts and get a Gold rating. He does not need a new PSU. 600 watts is more than fine for him.

Not necessarily true. In the RM series there are 2 builders and the 450/550/650 are different from the higher power units. CWT makes these and they're a good builder. They build a lot of the Corsair psu's, you know, the ones that gave Corsair the rep of quality psu's in the first place. Chicony makes the more powerful units and they are a little different. Overall, I haven't heard any real complaints about the RM series. Has anyone else?

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!
