I have just purchased and installed a r9 290 into my rig. I started off with a fresh install of windows and installed all the most updated drivers I can. I am having serious stability troubles with the new gpu and I am not enough of a techie to diagnose what is going wrong. I don't know if it's a problem with the gpu itself or the amd drivers or a motherboard issue.

Currently I am having trouble with random freezes, where my screens go black and the entire pc becomes unresponsive. It happens when I try to open a new program only shortly having powering on the pc. Which program seems random.

I have a 4770k @ stock and 16GB of RAM.

If there is any other information I can provide, I'll gladly see what I can do. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The black screen are most likely caused by faulty memory in the card. I would contact the manufacture about an RMA and they should recognize the black screen issue.

Ensure you have an adequate power supply and that you have all the necessary connectors plugged into the card and power supply.

I have a Corsair AX750 and all the cables are properly attached.  I double checked before I closed it up 2 days ago when I rebuilt it.

So you did have a gpu in it that worked before? must just be a faulty card. i hope you still have the old one to use while you RMA.

So it sounds like it's a unanimous the card is the issue and RMA is necessary.  And yes I do have my gtx560 still available.
