Does a DAC add audio delay?

Go to solution Solved by mr moose,

Yes they have delay, is noticable? not really,

is it faster than human reaction time? yes.

The mean reaction time for the average joe is 215ms,  essentially this is 1/4 of a second.  So any claims that improvement in the audio latency or screen frame rates = more accurate play is just a 14 year old forum girls uneducated rambling.

i guess it does but its not noticeable at all, even if you tried as hard as possible you wouldnt be able to notice the difference.

I've been using external DACs for playing online games for a few months now, and no, no problem with sound delay whatsoever. In the case that you (or maybe someone you know) experience some lagging or latency from the sound output, it's more likely caused by too much applications running in the background, all competing for the window's resources (RAM in most cases). Try exiting a few programs that you don't use when gaming, like messengers, browsers, printer monitor, etc, and see if that helps.

Razer got 1 program called game booster, that functions as an automatic switch to shut off background programs, and turn them back on when you're finished gaming...

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.
