Hello guys,

I want to build a new PC to replace my laptop. I do some gaming, mostly League of Legends but also random games from all genres. I am not that much into AAA titles since they are kina dissapointing right now, but i want to keep the option open for the future. I don't do any picture/video editing and I am not planning to do so in the future.

I will be building this PC in Germany. My budget is 1200-1400€. (max 1100€ for PC, rest for Monitor and Keyboard)

I also want to go dual OS because i want to make the longterm switch to Linux.

I kinda want to join the dual Monitor club aswell, but I am afraid my budget is too small.

Here is what I got so far:

Processor: i5 4670K or Xeon E3-1231v3

Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-H97-HD3 Intel H97 So.1150 Dual

Channel DDR3 ATX

RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9

Dual Kit

Video Card: 4096MB Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce 3x
Rev 2.0 Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16

Storage:240GB Crucial M500 2.5"  and 3000GB Seagate Desktop HDD ST3000DM001

Power supply: 480 Watt be quiet! Straight Power

Now i need a case(doesn't have to be fancy), monitor, keyboard(mechanical preferred)

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I have attached a partlist a friend of a friend made for me, it is in German though.

you need a z board otherwise that unlocked cpu will go to waste, also i'd say get a 500-550w even though the system can run on 430w it'd be nice to know you're safe.

My Little Gaming Rig:

CPU: FX 8320 | MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-D3P | RAM: G.Skill Ares 2x4GB | GPU: Sapphire Dual-X R9 270X | Storage: Seagate SSHD 1TB | Case: Corsair 200R | PSU: CM 550W V-Series

Upgrades to come: CPU FAN: Corsair H100i | RAM: 2 more 4GB sticks | GPU: Another R9 270X running in crossfire | Storage: Samsung 120GB SSD | PSU: Corsair 800w

As Elite said, you have to buy a z87 or z97 mobo to be able to overclock the i5, and the xeon is mainly for workstation/server, not that much for gaming... 16GB ram and 4gb gddr5 is a bit overkill... The PSU shuld e a bit more powerful, at least 600W (Nvidia says is the minimum required)... As for the case the define r4 is good, and the screen too...

rig: i7 4770k @4.1Ghz (delidded), Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz, ROG Maximus VI Hero, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA GTX980SC, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB, Corsair SF600, self-built wooden Case, CoolerMaster QuickFire TK, Logitech G502, Blue Yeti, BenQ GW2760HS

Probably get a 550W or 600W PSU, just so it isn't strained/ lacking efficiency. Crucial replaced the M500 with the MX100, and it's the same price or cheaper in my experience, so I strongly suggest going with an MX100 256GB over an M500 240GB ssd. The Xeons are similar to Core I series counterparts, but I think they are optimized a bit differently for different instructions and 24/7 operation. Support would probably be easier if you just stick to mainstream. If you aren't overclocking, check out the i7-4790 (especially if you have a micro-center nearby: $249 for an i7!!!)

CPU:  Intel i7-4790K      Cooler:  Noctua NH-D14     GPU: ZOTAC GTX 1070 TI MINI     Motherboard:  ASUS Z97 Gryphon     RAM:  32GB G Skill Trident X

Storage: 2x 512GB Samsung 850 EVO (RAID 0) / 2TB Seagate Barracuda     PSU: 850W EVGA SuperNova G2     Case: Fractal Design Node 804
